One of the most important rights we enjoy as citizens of Montana and the USA is the right to vote for the people who make and uphold our laws. This right is the foundation upon which our democratic form of government is based. Many people in the world do not share this right. It's a civic duty we should all feel privileged to perform.

Edward M. Leland

BELT — Edward Martin “Marty” Leland, 58, of Belt, died of natural causes Wednesday, July 4, at Peace Hospice of Montana. A celebration of life is 1 p.m. Saturday, July 21, at 598 Armington Road in Belt. Cremation will take place under the direction of Croxford Funeral Home and Crematory.

Marty was born Oct. 9, 1953, to George and Margaret (Mason) Leland in Great Falls. He was the youngest of four children. He led a full and accomplished life. After graduating from Great Falls High School in 1972, Marty went on to an apprenticeship for journeyman and earned his Masters as an Electrician in 1977. He also married Darlene Hansen in 1977.

He was a brother of the IBEW #233 union and traveled around the country wherever his work took him. Marty was a strong union sup
porter and would only purchase items made in the good ol’ USA. When he wasn’t working or playing Dad, he enjoyed hunting, fishing with his lifelong best friends Dan Hagen and playing cribbage with friends and family.

Marty is survived by his wife, Darlene; daughter Casey Leland and her son Robert Smith of Chinook; son Martin Leland of Belgrade; sisters Mary (Roger) Antonich of Belt and Ginny Carper of Coeur d’ Alene, Idaho; and brother David (Marilynn) Leland of Redmond, Wash. As Marty would say, “Thanks for the jingle.”

Condolences may be posted online at www.croxfordfuneralhome.com and/or www.gftribune.com/obituaries
