One of the most important rights we enjoy as citizens of Montana and the USA is the right to vote for the people who make and uphold our laws. This right is the foundation upon which our democratic form of government is based. Many people in the world do not share this right. It's a civic duty we should all feel privileged to perform.

2024 LICENSURE UPDATE - CALL TO ACTION
Jun 07, 2024

We would like to share an update on what the Governor is trying to do to get rid of licensing. We fought them in the 2023 legislative session when they were trying to terminate all licensing and every board in the state. We were able to keep that at bay due to bipartisan help at the legislative level. But now they have decided to not issue you a physical license that you would carry on you at all times. We are asking for everyone to stand up with us and show the state what we really think. Any conversations that you could give to the state to protect our industry are appreciated, not just for us, but for the plumbers as well. This is a baby step to get rid of licensing in Montana. Here is what that email or conversation on the phone should kind of look like:

This one is for the electricians:
To whom it may concern,
It has come to my attention that I will no longer be receiving a physical plastic license for my electrical license. I feel that this is not the right thing to do, and I am demanding that I get a physical license for the money and time that I have invested. I feel that it is very important for an electrician to carry his or her license on them at all times as it is it is the only proof that they are truly an electrician and are certified for the work that they do. Thank you and I hope that you will take my thoughts into consideration.
Sincerely, IBEW 233 Member

This one is for all non-electricians that are family members and friends willing to call on our behalf:
To whom it may concern,
It has come to my attention that electricians and plumbers will no longer be receiving a physical license that they have to carry on them at all times. I feel that this is unsafe for myself and my family or anyone that could potentially be getting electrical or plumbing work done. Electricians and plumbers are the heart doctors of the home, so I am demanding that they have a physical license that should be carried on them at all times, just like it has always been in Montana. Thank you, and I hope that you will take my thoughts into consideration.
Sincerely, Concerned Montanan
