One of the most important rights we enjoy as citizens of Montana and the USA is the right to vote for the people who make and uphold our laws. This right is the foundation upon which our democratic form of government is based. Many people in the world do not share this right. It's a civic duty we should all feel privileged to perform.

POLITCAL ACTION/UPDATES

This is where to look when we have updates on political happenings in our state that affect our trade or other labor issues that we need help with, as well as any new information.Click on the articles posted below for further information. We have the AFL-CIO Endorsements list there right now. You will notice on that list that we have a record number of UNION members running for political office, so be sure and get registered to vote so we can support these candidates this fall. At the bottom of the 233 home page are links to both check your registration status as well as to register to vote.

We are also working on pre-budget negotiations with the other trades and unions for the upcoming House Bill 13 which is the bill that affects what pay raises and benefits our state workers will receive after the next legislative cycle. We will probably be looking for help on this Bill as well as any others that will be coming down the pipeline, like Right to Work for Less laws which will undoubtedly be coming our way. If you want to get involved with our volunteer organizing committee for political action (VOC), please get ahold of Luke Hoffer, the assistant business manager, to get put on that email list. You can reach him by emailing him at luke@ibew233.org and request you want to be put on the VOC update lists.

SISTERS AND BROTHERS, WE MADE THROUGH ANOTHER LEGISLATIVE SESSION.  THIS WAS A TOUGH FIGHT BUT THANKS TO MEMBERS LIKE YOU AND OTHER UNIONS PULLING TOGETHER WE WERE ABLE TO KILL THE ATTACKS ON THE UNIONS AND THE MIDDLECLASS!! IF ANY LABOR BILLS DID MAKE IT THROUGH A COMMITTEE, IT WAS SO HEAVILY AMENDED THAT ANY TEETH WERE PULLED OUT, OR THEY DROPPED BECAUSE OF THE AMENDMENTS.
BELOW IS WHO VOTED FOR AND AGAINST HB 448 THE RTW BILL.
