The labor-management relationship between the skilled electrical workers of IBEW 233 and the professional contractors of the Montana Chapter of the National Electrical Contractors Association is based on partnership.  Our contractors benefit because they can provide customers with cost-effective, top notch electrical work from the electricians of IBEW 233.  Our electricians receive fair wages and benefits.  The contractor and workers benefit from a stable industry because IBEW 233’s construction unit has never been on strike.  This is guaranteed because of our "No Strike - No Lockout" provision in our employment agreement; disagreements happen in today's world and that's why we have binding arbitration, so you can guarantee your customers you won't have a work stoppage.  If you aren't Union you don't have that guarantee.

A pool of readily available, high quality, pre-screened workers: as a safe guard for contractors local 233 has the availability of a drug test policy if that contractor so wishes or needs to do.  All applicants/referrals are checked for current electrical licenses appropriate to the work being performed before being sent to your business. Apprentices are dispatched by the Montana Electrical JATC; Journeymen, are dispatched by the Union Hall. Apprentices have the best instructors and facility available in the State. Journeyman electricians and masters have constant access to Journeyman upgrade classes.
  2. No more having to place an ad in the newspaper or online, having to interview candidates to find out if they have the skills necessary to do the job, take valuable time away from your business. To get more electricians simply place a job call and the local does the work for you. When the job is over you don't have to worry about where you are going to keep these guys going while you find another job. It is as simple as the members come back to the hall and re-sign the out of work list untill the next job call comes in.
  3. Manpower availability: Workers are available for short term (14 calendar days or less) and/or long term employment as needed for various jobs. This allows employers an easy way to bid larger jobs and man up a large crew or hire electricians for short term needs to meet customer demands for a quick job.
  4. No Strike-No Lockout clauses in all standard construction agreements.  Let's face it, a problem such as a labor dispute that results in no electricians on your jobs or in your trucks means no work for either of US!  The IBEW-NECA partnership is there to keep your business running smoothly.
  5. Very progressive Labor-Management Relations: NECA and IBEW work together closely in all aspects of the electrical industry. The Employer runs their business and IBEW 233 supplies the trained manpower.
  6. Training through the JATC. The JATC can create classes to keep your business up to snuff.
  7. Drug and alcohol free. IBEW 233 & NECA have negotiated a drug and alcohol testing policy that contractors can utilize.  Employers have sometimes  With this policy in place some employers have realized lower work comp premiums.
