Edward William L. Ledford ~ Boiling Spring Lakes
Edward William L. Ledford went home to be with his Lord and Master, Jesus Christ, on August 20, 2014. He was a faithful servant of God who was concerned for the souls of others.
Born in Waynesville, North Carolina on January 9, 1926, he was the son of the late Delmar E. and Blonnie Ledford. Ed was a veteran of the United States Army having served in World War II and was a retired lineman. Mr. Ledford was also preceded in death by his brother Lloyd D. Ledford and sister Florence Anthony.
Survivors include his wife, Barbara and step-children Billy, Anthony, and Mickey Simms, and Debbie Spinks; a very special niece Debbie Cunningham, niece Becky Farless, and nephew George Anthony.
Mr. Ledford will be remembered by many in the Southport area as “the man who wore an oxygen tank and gave out gospel tracts in Walmart, outside Food Lion, and Lowes Foods.”
Funeral services will be 3pm Sunday, August 24, 2014 at Sonrise Independent Baptist Church. Interment will be 1pm Monday, August 25, 2014 in Salisbury National Cemetery. The family will receive friends from 2-3pm at the church. In lieu of flowers memorials may be made to Sonrise Independent Baptist Church Mission Fund, 8375 River Road, SE, Southport NC 28461.
